- Job Responsibilities
The Department of Mental Health is a drug-free workplace. All candidates will be required to pass a mandatory pre-employment drug test.
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, CRCF-Emerald, 2262 Brownstone Road, Bishopville, SC 29010.
Under general supervision of the administrator, assists in the therapeutic care to residents of the Community Residential Care Facility (CRCF) operated by SC Department of Mental Health. Works cooperatively with other Human Service Specialists and Human Service Assistants. Assists and instructs residents in needs of dally living, i.e.., cooking, cleaning, budget planning, etc. Assists treatment team in therapeutic and rehabilitative activities.
Provides direct care attention to residents and serves as a role model in order to assist residents with their development of skills necessary to transition successfully and function more independently. Observes and records residents behaviors. Documents residents attendance and behaviors in accordance with program requirements. Services will be in compliance with SCDMH, DHHS, QA and Corporate Compliance standards.
Assists residents in medication administration and compliance.
Assists and coordinates transportation of residents to medical appointments and assures documentation of appointment is provided to CRCF. Assists and coordinates special activities and routine outings transportation.
Performs cleaning duties, to include but not limited to, sweeping/mopping, cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms, dusting, etc. Cooks residents meals.
One (1) Position Available-Works the night shift 11:15pm-7:15am
- Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirements: Experience in a relevant program area.
DMH Requirements: A bachelors degree or an associate degree in related field and one (1) year of experience in a psychiatric facility; or a high school diploma and two (2) years of experience in a psychiatric facility; or a tenth grade education and three (3) years of experience in a psychiatric facility.

Ability to work in a residential facility. Ability to work rotational shifts. Ability top communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Must have a valid SC driver's license and the ability to drive a state vehicle.
